Jazz up your Masked Image

Have you all tried masking using Tim Holtz's idea-ology masking templates? They are so easy to use and you could never fail in getting an amazing masked image.

But what else you could do to jazz up the masked image? You could definitely doodle on it or to make it even more fun, try cutting out part of the masked image to create details within the masked image. Later, layer another piece of pattern paper below it. You could also add some Stickles to bling it up.

In my sample above, I've done a masking using Tim Holtz's flourish masking template. Later, I've cut out circles and some parts of the masked image. Then, I've added a light blue blingy pattern paper under it. Isn't this cool? Try it!

A Blast

This is my last project for Mon Scrapbook.Com as their guest designer for this month. I've used Clear Scraps XL Deco acrylic shape as the base for this page.

Here are the steps to it.

1) Use Clear Scraps XL Deco shape as the base for this page. Highlight it's edges with a paint marker.

2) Cut out a huge frame piece from the "Memento" pattern paper and paste it in the middle of the page.

3) Cut out a rectangular piece from another pattern paper and distress it's edges using the scissors distressing technique. Ink it with distress ink and hand stitch around it's edges before attaching it to the page.

4) Distress the edges of the photograph using the scissors distressing technique and ink it's edges. Run it upper right and lower left corner through an embossing machine and lightly sand it with a sanding block or sand paper. Add it to the page.

5) Use two sizes of Tim Holtz's idea-ology masking templates (Timeworks) and some distress ink to mask on the left of the page. Add details to it using a white gel pen.

6) Cut out another wave piece from the "Memento" pattern paper and paste ti to the bottom of the page. Add some Stickles to it.

7) To accentuate the actions in the photograph, I've added two circle stickers on the right of the photograph and created some circle embellishment. I've used three acrylic circle pieces from Clear Scraps. Add some Magic Mesh/Dottie Ann to the two smaller circles. Run the big circle through an embossing machine and ink it with alcohol ink. Add some colour to it using a paint marker. Add all three circles to the page.

8) The "A" is a sticker and I've hand doodled a circle using a white gel pen around it.

9) Ink a grungeboard "B" with distress ink and add some glossy accents to it. Layer a piece of pattern paper under it. The "L" is a foam sticker which I've added some Stickles to it. The "a" is a cut out alpha and the "S" is a grungeboard alpha inked with distress ink. The "t" is a puffy alpha.

I hope that I've succeed in bringing the mood and happenings in the photograph out into the layout. I've tried to create the feel of fun movements in the design of the layout. Could you feel the fun energy in this page?

Little Dude Mini Album

This is my third guest designing project for Mon Scrapbook.Com. It’s an acrylic mini accordion album that I’ve created using Clear Scraps acrylic coasters.

Here are the steps to it.
Use three acrylic coasters to make the base for this minialbum.

Front Cover:
1) Cover half of the front cover with pattern paper.
2) Stamp a clock and compass image to it using solvent ink.
3) I’ve printed a car image from the computer and distress the edges using the "Extreme Punching to Distress" technique. Add it to the page.
4) Add some crackle paint on its lower and upper left. I’ve used the "Crackle Paint on Acrylic" technique to add crackle paint on its lower right.
5) I’ve stamped on the word “little” using solvent ink and highlight it using a white gel pen.
6) The word “dude” had been cut out from the Memento pattern paper and pastes it onto a mini ghost frame. I’ve highlight the edges of the frame with a black pen. Use some brads to add it to the page.
7) Add a circle sticker to it and use a black pen to doodle around it.
8) Lastly, add a metal spinner and gear to the page.

Crown Page:
1) Distress the photograph using the scissors distressing technique and add it to the page.
2) Use the “Crackle Paint on Acrylic” technique to add some crackle paint to its upper left and lower right.
3) Add a small circle sticker to its lower left and use so
me paint markers to draw some lines on it.
4) I’ve used the Cuttlebug to cut out and emboss the crown on pattern paper. Sand the embossed crown using a sanding block.

Back Cover:
1) I’ve printed another car sketch image from the computer and distress it using the extreme punching technique. Ink its edges with distress ink and add it to the page.
2) Stamp the clock and the word image using solvent ink on the page.
3) Add some crackle paint to its lower right using the “Crackle Paint on Acrylic” technique.

Love Page:

1) Distress the edges of the photograph using the scissors distressing technique and ink it with distress ink. Paste it to the page.
2) Stamp the word “joy” on the photograph using solvent ink.
3) Add some crackle paint to its upper right.
4) Cut out a circle from the pattern paper and paste it to its lower right.
5) Add a strip of ribbon across the bottom of the page and a button to its left.
6) Use the "Ink on Vinyl" technique to colour the vinyl circle and add it to the right.
7) The word “love’ is cut out from the pattern paper.

Car Page:
1) Add a piece of printed screen or transparency onto the page.
2) Distress the photograph using the scissors distressing technique and ink it with distress ink. Add it to the page.
3) Add some crackle paint to its upper left of the photograph.
4) Use the “Ink on Vinyl” technique to colour the three vinyl circles and add it to the page.
5) The word “car” is created using alpha stickers.

Cheeky Page:
1) Add a piece of pattern paper to the page.
2) Distress the photograph using the scissors distressing technique and ink its edges with distress ink. Add it to the page.
3) Add some crackle paint to the lower right of the page.
4) Colour the vinyl scroll using the “Ink on Vinyl” technique and add it to the lower left of the page. Dress it up with some liquid pearls.
5) The word “cheeky” are cut out from the pattern paper.

To bind all pages together, punch some holes on the edges and tie them together using some ribbons.

Ryan’s huge interest in cars had inspired me to create this mini album for him.

My workshop in Kuala Lumpur had been great and I’ve managed to get to know some wonderful new scrapping friends there. I’ll share the pictures of the project soon.

Crackle Paint on Acrylic

This is another technique that I've came up with while playing with crackle paint. I think most of you knew that crackle paint would easily fell off from acrylics when it starts to crack and dry. What I did was when the crackle paint starts to dry and crack, quickly apply a layer of glossy accents on top of it. It will give a very cool distressed look to your acrylic and add more textures to it too if some of the crack pieces flows with the glossy accents.

This is such a happy discovery for me as I love all my projects to look distressed even on my acrylics!
