Last week of Nov!

This is my last project on The Crop Spot for the month of November. It's a project where I've included some techniques on enhancing your chipboard pieces. I've also tried to use an overlay that most people will avoid in this layout. Hope this project would spark a little inspiration in you all. Click here if you wish to read more about it. Happy experimenting!

Week 27!

This week Hiro is already 27 weeks. We've just picked him up today after boarding him for two nights at his usual boarding place. He likes it so much there that we've started to call that place as his godmother's home. So whenever we need to board him, we will say that he is going to visit his godmother...lol!

Look at that face. He is actually trying to beg for a lick of our food at that moment. Of course he failed as we don't want him to get sick because of that. Recently, we do found little patches of dandruff on him. I think it is some kind of skin problem but according to the grooming lady, she said it is fine. We just need to scrape it off from his skin and let it heal. Do you all have that problem with your furkids? Share it with me.

Through The Years

This is my third project using Swirlydoos Nov Kit, "Antique Linen". I really love the colour scheme coordinated in this kit. In this layout, I've used both gorgeous papers from TPC Studio and Kaisercraft with the lovely lace overlay from Hambly.

Here are the steps:
1) Use a pattern paper as the base for this layout. Distress it's edges and ink it with distress ink.
2) Cut out a wide strip of lace overlay and add it horizontally on the top of the layout. Dress it up with Stickles.

3) Cut out two strips with different width from the pattern papers and later, distress and ink their edges with distress ink. Attach it on top of the overlay and hand stitch some zig-zag stitches between them.
4) Hand stitch a huge square around the layout.
5) Ink the edges of the big photograph with some distress ink and mat it with a dark brown cardstock. Attach it to the middle of the layout. Apply some rub-ons to it's upper left corner and left edges. Dress it up with pearls.

6) Cut out a huge mirror/banner/journaling box from the pattern paper and ink it's edges with distress ink. Add it to the right of the layout. Also add some flowers to it. Detail it with pearls, Stickles and rub-ons.

7) Ink the edges of the small photograph and mat it with a square piece of pattern paper. Ink it with distress ink as well. Add it to the lower right of the layout. Attach a flower on it's right and add some rub-ons on it's edge and corner. Detail it with some pearls.

8) Cut out the title from the pattern paper and attach it to the layout with foam adhesives. Cover the title with some glossy accents. Add some rub-ons on both of it's edges.

9) Apply a flourish rub-on on the upper left of the layout and stamp some images on the bottom left. Dress it up with pearls.

10) Use the Distressing With Acrylic Paint technique on the flowers.

Hope you all like this layout and try the techniques involved. Have a wonderful weekend!

Little Details to Share

From yesterday's post, some of you had asked me, what are those food and how I celebrate Thanksgiving?

First of all, Thanksgiving is not celebrated here in Malaysia. But, I always think that it's such a meaningful day to do something for others and of course, there's nothing better than to slow down and start going through the memories of your journey this year. Therefore, I like to kind of celebrate it with my family. Nothing as big as what you all had but just a small dinner together with the family.

Ok, back to the food, those are basically some desserts and delicacy. For example, the first picture would be fishballs soup. It tastes great especially for the kids. It's not sweet. It's like the taste of some noodle soup. This is one of Chloe's favourite dish.
The second picture is a dessert. It's sweet potato cook in some sugar and water. It's definitely a very sweet dish.
The third picture would be a kind of fruit dessert. We call it "lychee". It's very sweet and taste refreshing.
The last picture would be some prawn dumplings. I think you could see this is at chinatown in your country. Yummy!

After much explanations, I'm getting hungry now. Make sure you try to spot for these food the next time you get a chance to visit chinatown. Hope this post make some of you looking forward to your Thanksgiving Feast!!

Feeling Hungry?

Have you thought about going on a fun feast after a few weeks of stressful and tiring work? Would you order whatever you see then? Last week, I've had an amazing and fun day treating myself to all the dessert and delicacies that I can find from one specific location. It's such a rewarding and yummy day!
The sweetness makes me happy and felt energized!

Look at those yummy food! Are you drooling already?
Are you wondering whether am I crazy? Did I really finish all those food myself? How much calories do I need to get rid after this feast?..lol! Ok, I did not finish it. I bought it all home. This is because they look too yummy and "REALISTIC"!!! Yes, these are NOT real. The workmanship here is just INCREDIBLE!! Now I have all 12 of them nicely displayed for me to stare at it whenever I need to refresh myself. This would be my Thanksgiving meal this year...hehe!
I'll be posting another project using Swirlydoos Nov kit soon. Check back for it. Also remember that my celebration giveaway is still on going. Join in the fun!

Hiro with his Toy

Hiro is already 26 weeks old this week. He is getting so big and eat a lot more nowadays. The above picture was taken while he is concentrating on one of his favourite toy, a rubber ball. He loves to play fetch with this ball.
He loves it when we stuff the small hole in the middle of the ball with some treats or greenies. It's a great way to exercise him and keep him busy. How do you all keep your furkids busy? Share it with me here!

Don't forget, the celebration giveaway on my blog is till on going. If you haven't join in the fun, check it out here.

Moments In Time

This is my my second layout using Swirlydoos Nov kit, Antique Linen. I've used the Ancestry line of pattern papers from TPC Studio to create the layout.

Here are the steps.

1) Use a pattern paper as the base for this layout. Distress it's edges using a scissors and ink it with distress ink.

2) Cut out a strip from another pattern paper and distress it's edges too. Attach it to the middle of the layout.

3) Use some Tim Holtz ideo-ology masks and distress inks to mask the clock and the gears on the upper right and lower left corner of the strip in step (2). Dress it up with rhinestones.

4) Distress the edges of the photograph and ink it with distress ink. Add it to the middle of the layout.

5) Use the textured rubbings included in the kit to create the gold frame around the photograph. Detail it with Stickles and rhinestones.

6) Hand stitch around the left and upper edges of the layout and dress up the upper left corner with rhinestones.

7) Cut out a ring from another pattern paper and ink it's edges with distress ink. Add it to the lower left of the layout and hand stitch some cross-stitches on it.

8) Apply the Kaisercraft rub-ons journaling box onto the pattern paper and cut it out. Ink it with distress ink and add it to the layout with some foam adhesives. Stamp three "squares" on it's right and dress them up with rhinestones.

9) Use the "Create Wreath using some Cords" technique to create the wreath and attach it to the upper right of the layout.

10 Cut out the title from the pattern paper and attach it to the layout using foam adhesives. Highlight the title using Stickles.

Hope you all like today's tutorial. Keep an eye for more projects from me using Swirlydoos kit.

Create Wreath using some Cords

This is just a very easy technique that I've used in one of my DT layout for Swirlydoos this month. I've used a cord that has been included in the kit to create a wreath for the layout.

Here's how you do it. Curl the cord to form a circle and tie a few knots to secure it. Then, stitch it down to the layout with some cross-stitches around the cord randomly. Attach some flowers to it using adhesives. Isn't this simple and easy? Try it!

I'll be sharing the complete layout tomorrow. Keep an eye for it.

It's Monday!!

Well, I never loved Mondays in the past, but now, every Monday seems to be so much fun and filled with loads of excitement for me. This week on The Crop Spot, I'll be sharing a project which is created using one of Hiro's very cute picture. I just love looking at this picture. He is so small and innocent then...lol!
The main technique involved in today's tutorial would be "Embossing on grunge paper". This is a really fun technique and could easily add textures and dimensions to your project. Besides that, I've been playing with loads of different shapes of dew drops and distressing some paper flowers. Wanna check it out? Click here.
I think they are also about to announce the winner for the huge mini album giveaway. Do keep an eye for it.

Lastly, my blog's celebration giveaway is still on going. For those of you who wants to try your luck, here's the link to it. Have fun!

Funny Puppy!

This week, Hiro is already 25 weeks old. Above is a picture that I've captured while he is fast asleep. I must say he has some funny sleeping postures....LOL! Hiro has a very sharp hearing and reacts fast to any sound. I have to sneak quietly beside him to capture the picture above.
I only managed to take two shots before he spotted me in the picture above. Look at that cute little face. Does your dog have a funny sleeping posture?
If you like my blog and has enjoyed it, do share it with your friends and also tell them that I'm having a celebration giveaway now! Spread the joy on this season of "giving".

Happiness

This is my first DT layout using Swirlydoos Nov kit, "Antique Linen". I've used mostly the Kaisercrafts pattern papers in the kit to create this layout.

Here are the steps to it.

1) Cut out the die-cut shape from one of the pattern papers as the base for this layout. Distress it's edges using a scissors and ink some distress ink on it. Apply some dimensional pearls around it.

2) Trace the base onto another pattern paper and cut it out. Distress the edges of the cut out piece and attach it to the left of the layout. Hand stitch around it.

3) Cut out a rectangular piece from a white cardstock and punch a row of holes on it's upper edge. Tear part of it out and ink all around it's edges with some distress ink. Attach it to the layout.

4) Cut out the flower and flourishes from one of the pattern paper and add it to the top of the white cardstock. Ink it with distress ink first and after attach it, detail it with Ice Stickles and Stickles.

5) Cut out a strip of pattern paper and distress it's edges. Add it horizontally across the white cardstock. Stamp some swirls on the upper left of the white cardstock and two hinges in the middle and right of it.

6) Distress teh edges of the photograph and attach it to the layout. Stamp a bird on it and some birds on the upper right of the layout.

7) Add a strip of lace vertically on the left of the photograph.

8) Cut out another thinner strip from another pattern paper and ink it's edges with distress ink. Add it on the bottom of the photograph. Also add some rub-ons on the bottom of it. Detail both with Stickles.

9) Cut out a frame from the pattern paper and ink it with distress ink. Attach it to the layout and dress it up with Stickles and rhinestones.

10) Use a piece of Clear Scraps acrylic flower and run it through an embossing machine. I've sprayed it with some Glimmer Mist and let it dry. When it's dry, paint on it's edges with acrylic paint and use black solvent ink to highlight the embossed images. Tie a ribbon to it and dress it up with Stickles. Attach it to the bottom right of the layout.

11) Stamp on two white paper flowers with a small circle stamp and add it to the left of the layout. Detail it's centers with some gold adhesives.

12) Stamp a scroll and some small squares on the upper right corner of the layout and dress it up with Stickles. Use some cut out alphas to form the title and detail it with liquid pearls. Attach it to the layout using some foam adhesives.

Hope you all like this layout. I'll be sharing more projects using the kit soon.

For those of you who has not tried your luck on my celebration giveaway, you could check it out here. You would not want to miss it! Good Luck!
